Shut Up!

No, it's true!  The car is going back together heading straight to being on the road again.  So, the engine compartment is painted (Blade Silver - 2017 Corvette Silver)...I got tired of thinking about what color.  Started on the wiring harness and populating some of the system components.  The plan is to put the body back on the frame and work through all the systems (drive the car) over the summer and then finish painting the overall car in the fall.

Completed the bed liner coating on the underside (noise and vibration mitigation)

I told you I had ordered a new differential, and I did.  However, Corvette Central let me down, multiple times (delivery date was pushed out twice).  The excuse for COVID causing delays is no longer an excuse after a year.  If you haven't figured out the new supply chain cycle after a year, you are just lying.  As they say, Screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, same on me.  Well, after giving me a delay twice, I bought all the parts new (ring and pinion, posi carrier, Timken bearings, and salvage housing) for less than the one they wanted to sell me with a rebuilt carrier (new clutches).  The completely new Eaton carrier I bought has the new carbon fiber friction disk which swell when they get hot.  I did have to buy a pinion depth gauge to pick the pinion shim.  I bought 2 sets on the pinion bearings.  Since pressing the bearings on and off is a pain, I honed out one set of bearings so they slid right on and off the shaft through the pinion shim selection process.

Old differential (left - 4 Series) and new differential (right - 3 Series)
Here you can see the Moser forged pinion flange (not an option on the Corvette Central build).

3 and 4 series Corvette differential
(Careful - I swapped them on you)
New differential (left - 3 Series) and old differential (right - 4 Series)
Interestingly enough, the 63-64 diff is called a 4 series and the 65-79 diff is 3 series.
