Rust

This weekend I worked on a number of areas but the main area was the radiator core support.  After replacing the old unit, I decided to collect up all the rusted bits and pieces I've replace over the past couple months. Overall components replaced on the underside of the car and the radiator core support Here is the original core support from 1964.  I replaced this with a new unit meant for a 1967 big block to handle the larger radiator and added AC going in the car. Two Halves Meet Again

Wow, after all that work and the two halves still work with each other.  I can now true up the door seams and character lines.  After getting these in shape, I'll pull the body back off and do the final painting. After purchasing a big block hood (because I like them) and trying to align it on the car, I learned that the previous bonding job of the top fenders to the inner fenders not only looked lousy but didn't match much of anything. As you can see, the genius decided to stoke it up with wood because they failed to do the overall job correctly.  Regardless, I separated the sections and re-aligned the two fenders...these were new too.

Well, where to start? Activity on the car has been impacted due to traveling for work.  In the past 4 months, I have been to the following (excluding those countries used for connections like Germany, France, Amsterdam): Mexico Scotland Norway Singapore Malaysia Indonesia India Thailand Panama Venezuela Argentina Brazil Dubai Saudi Bahrain Egypt Even through all this, I have found some time to work on the body by removing all the rusted re-enforcement's, hinges and other parts for sandblasting sealing and painting.  This weekend, I'm looking forward to mounting the body back on the frame to check seam and fender to door alignment. I also want to give a shout out to my new friends in Argentina.  They invited me to an amazing barbecue that was the best I've ever had.  The company was great too, even Chimichurri (nickname for a guy that is at every barbecue...just like chimichurri (Argentina BBQ sauce)).
