Minding the details

I was looking over some of the pictures in my post and for those people that know me, sub-par pictures are not really acceptable.  Anyway, I plan to spend more time on the details associated with documenting this adventure.

This weekend was hot here in Houston...it is our bad weather season.  It seemed like I went through two to three changes of clothes just working through the morning, up through lunch.  Clothing needed changed because I was too soaked to be comfortable and not stick to everything I touched.  This weekend the work was focused on a number of small items associated with the rear suspension.  The drive shaves and shocks where the major addition this weekend along with other small pieces needed to close out this portion of the drive train.

It was interesting looking back at the original strut rod that came on the car.  From what I've read, they use to bend the rod to achieve alignment on the rear wheel if the existing adjuster didn't provide enough range.  I've opted for and adjustable strut for improved strength and greater range of adjustment.

I decided to try the original wheels and tires that came on the car.  They still fit as long as I don't install the brake calipers...minor detail.  So, I need to get some wheels and tires on order to complete the drive train.  You can see in this picture the clearance of the wheels with the disk brake setup. (Don't evaluate the suspension setup, I just through some shims in there to take most of the lean out of the wheel.

Here is a sample of the wheels I was thinking of getting.  These are made by Center Line (LEGEND SERIES-RETRO).  I've seen a lot of cars with the Torque Thrust II wheel made by American Racing but I want to be a little different.  Part of my research brought me to this site which has been helpful in figuring out what size wheel and tire can fit ( http://www.stl-vettes.com/65vette/wheels/others/c2_wheels.htm ).

Well, let's just say that some companies (Centerline Wheels) don't understand
customer service.  I ordered these over a month ago and decided
to call about their status (promised in 3-4 weeks).  I was told to call back in a couple days
to see what they had come up with on possible delivery.  This was the same
scenario for Hurst for the transmission...why should I have to chase
after a company when they have missed their committed delivery date?
